United Utilities work at Hough HoleThe existing waste water treatment works at Hough Hole has been deemed inadequate to meet current requirements and is due to be upgraded in the very near future. The original intention was for United Utilities to construct a large new treatment works on the same site, but, for various reasons, they will now pump the waste away from Rainow to a treatment works elsewhere. The Hough Hole site will be cleared and a new pumping station and holding tank will be installed. These buildings will have a much smaller profile than those presently on the site. John Allen (01625 572523) is co-ordinating a residents group and, together with the Parish Council, is ensuring that local interests are well looked after. |
Kerridge Ridge and Ingersley Vale ProjectThe Kerridge Ridge and Ingersley Vale Project is a partnership between local residents, Cheshire County Council, Bollington Town Council, Rainow Parish Council, Macclesfield Borough Council, Bollin Valley Partnership and Groundwork. These groups are working together to protect and enhance a beautiful stretch of countryside between Bollington and Rainow in Cheshire. The Parish Council is represented on the Kerridge Ridge & Ingersley Vale Project Steering Group, by Ken Butler who is currently the Deputy Chairman. Work has started on the first of the projects and there is
a program of volunteer and learning days underway, contact Nick

The Parish PlanThe Parish Plan team has now completed all its deliberations and presented its findings to the Parish Council. A summary of that Plan has now been distributed to every home in the Parish. Many of the conclusions will have a familiar ring to them but you will also meet a few surprises, but most importantly, you will find a genuine picture of what residents of all ages require from their village in the years to come. Over the next couple of months, the Parish Council will consider how best to meet the needs expressed in the Plan, what strategy to employ in implementing the numerous recommendations of the steering Group and what resources will be required to fund the various projects. Almost certainly, the Parish Council will need the support
of as many willing hands as it can find in order to bring the
many elements of the Plan into full fruition. Its time for volunteers
to step forward ! |

Rainow Youth Parish CouncilThe Parish Plan Implementation Group have received funding to help set up a Rainow Youth Parish Council, open to everyone who is aged between 12 and 18. We will be hoping to set up some activities for the 12-18 age group but we need some ideas about what activities they want to see in the village. Do you want sport activities? To learn new skills? Trips out? Or something entirely different? If you would like to join the mailing list please email Lyndsay Lomax to hear
updates and when the next meeting is going to be. |
